What are the primary functions of the Chinese American Ophthalmological Society?
CAOS is a charitable organization engaged in advancing ophthalmic education and research, and in fostering relationships within the Chinese American Ophthalmologic community.
Who joins CAOS?
In addition to Ophthalmologists, Vision Researchers, Fellows, and Residents of Chinese descent, individuals of any ethnic background involved in the visual sciences (optometrists, opticians and vision scientists) who are interested in developing ties with the Chinese American ophthalmologic community are welcome to participate. International members are also welcome.
How do I join CAOS?
To join CAOS, submit a completed membership application and pay annual dues.
Who is responsible for organizing the Society?
The governing board of CAOS is an elected committee of dedicated members.
What are some of CAOS' educational and social activities?
CAOS has sponsored and engaged in a wide array of educational activities, including collaborating on the establishment of The Peking Medical University Eye Center, translation of the Basic and Clinical Science Course (BCSC) Manual into Chinese, translation of the Archives of Ophthalmology into Chinese, and many others. CAOS organizes an Annual Dinner at the AAO and an annual luncheon/dinner at ARVO. We are currently in the process of planning regional activities to facilitate more frequent interaction between its local members.
